The Western Australian (WA) Government offers pathways under its Skilled Migration Program for 2024/25.
Key Pathways in WA's Skilled Migration Program
Graduate Stream (Onshore)
Subclass 190 & Subclass 491
Graduate stream applicants may hold a student visa at the time of invitation for state nomination.
Applicants must have completed a qualification from a Western Australian educational institution and should meet the criteria specified for their occupation on the WA Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL).
General Stream (Onshore)
Subclass 190 & Subclass 491
Applicants must hold a visa that grants suitable working rights in Australia to be eligible for an invitation.
The WA State nomination process follows a ranking system where EOIs (Expressions of Interest) are assessed based on various factors, including the points score claimed in SkillSelect.
Western Australia Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) – Schedule 1 & 2 (Onshore & Offshore)
WA differentiates occupations into two schedules:
Schedule 1: Includes occupations related to healthcare, medical, and social assistance industries.
Schedule 2: Covers all other industry categories.
For subclass 190, both schedule 1 and 2 occupations may be considered, while the subclass 491 generally has a broader scope of eligible occupations.
Job Offer: Particularly relevant for offshore applicants; a full-time employment contract is typically required to secure nomination.
Invitation Process and Priority
Invitation Rounds: EOIs are processed through the WA invitation ranking system, prioritizing residents of WA first. Invitations are anticipated to occur in the first week of each month.
Interstate Applicants: While the August invitation round focused solely on WA residents, interstate applicants may be considered for future rounds but must relocate to WA within three months of visa grant if successful.
